Postpartum Care
Caring for yourself after you give birth is important to both your health and your baby’s health.
It is vital to prioritize YOU, even though that may seem impossible, especially in the first few weeks and months.
It might help if you remember that it is always easier to pour from a cup that has been filled.
There are so many ways that your baby will benefit when you are also cared for and held during your postpartum time.
Postpartum care is where my heart lies. Taking care of new parents and helping families adjust to their new normal is my thing.
I typically start by encouraging you to REST. I will help you do your best to delegate wherever you can and encourage you to be extra gentle with yourself. Healing from giving birth can be all encompassing and can bring up needs that are unexpected.
I am ready to meet you wherever you are, without judgement.
Too often, birthing people are overlooked after the birth - the focus is almost always on how the baby is doing. The fourth trimester is an important time to heal, rest, and bond with your baby. It can be tough to do all of those things without some support.
What is a postpartum doula visit like?
It can look a million different ways and it really depends on what you need.
Once we establish our boundaries of care, I like to embody a style where I start by prioritizing YOU first - however that looks to you. I can make you a meal, help with basic feeding, answer your current list of questions, assist you with any physical or emotional healing issues, connect you to local resources, or simply take loving care of your baby while you rest or do something for yourself.
I also enjoy helping out with that random list of things that nobody seems to have the energy for (tidying up, taking out the trash, sanitizing feeding equipment, cleaning the diaper pail, doing loads of laundry). After making sure you have better access to what you need, and that you have a glass of water close by, I’ll quietly head out. My goal is to leave you feeling more supported.
Postpartum Care Rates
I currently offer my postpartum services on a package basis.
I utilize 25% of my rate to directly support Black doulas currently working in the field.
More details on my pricing structure, can be found here!
I prioritize serving Black, LGBTQAI2S+, and single parents.
If you would like some extra help in the late night hours, please ask me about overnight support.
On-Call Childcare for Doulas
I am now offering a service that aims to serve parents who are currently providing Doula care!
It can often be impossible for Doula-ing parents to rely on their regular childcare providers when they get a call to attend a birth late at night, on weekends, or anytime outside of “regular” hours.
It can also be a struggle to explain to a sitter the kind of hours and levels of unpredictability that go along with serving your community as a Doula.
I have taken care of kids most of my life in a variety of professional and personal settings and am comfortable sitting with kids of all ages. If you are in need of childcare on the occasions when you are on call for a birth, please reach out and let’s see if I can be of service!
Birth Doula Services
I do not currently have any availability for the remainder of 2023 for Birth Doula services.
If your due date is in 2024, please feel free to book an online consultation with me and we can chat about the possibilities!
