about me . . .
Hello and welcome!
My name is April. I am a Birth Worker, Postpartum Doula, Childcare Provider, and all-around loving caregiver.
I came to birth work through a few related, but very different paths in my life that have converged over the years. My unique perspective helps me to center your experience and act according to your values.
I will support you, respect you, and meet you wherever you are. If you feel like you are struggling, please reach out. I will meet you with compassion, on your terms, without judgement. It can be such a relief to ask for help.
When I am able to help families, especially brand new parents, I feel most aligned with my purpose. It is a gift and an honor to be invited into these private, and sometimes very tender places.
Thank you for taking the time to visit! I hope that we can connect in a meaningful way. Much love to you!
Some information on my training . . .
Being a Doula means a lot of different things to different people.
References to birth work can be found in almost all ancient civilizations that valued a close knit community. There are numerous examples of midwifery, doulas, and birth support people found throughout history.
Not everyone believes that birth workers need trainings or certifications and I agree. For those who do value trainings - and in the spirit of full transparency - I will keep a running list of mine here.
I continue my education as much as possible because I love learning. I am a curious, open-minded person and I try to take advantage of all learning opportunities.
I will forever be a student of the birthing experience. I humbly acknowledge the vast amount that I have yet to learn and all that I will never know.
